Is your ocean DDP inquiry ready for written review?

Answer 15 practical questions before requesting a route plan. The result identifies missing inputs; it does not accept cargo or produce an automatic freight quote.

DIRECT ANSWER

What makes a DDP inquiry review-ready?

A review-ready inquiry identifies the actual product, packing, origin, destination, shipment mode, commercial parties, importer and customs path, classification basis, licences and the exact cost scope expected in writing. Uncertainty is normal, but it must be visible before pricing.

Planned destination

01

Cargo identity

Describe what is actually moving—not a broad sales category.

1.1Commercial product name, material, function and end use are known.
1.2Package count, dimensions, gross weight and total volume are available.
1.3Battery, brand, chemical, food, medical or other regulated attributes are disclosed.
02

Route and shipment

A useful quote needs a physical route and a realistic cargo-ready assumption.

2.1Pickup address or port, cargo-ready date and export location are known.
2.2Final delivery address or postal code and site-access conditions are known.
2.3FCL or LCL is identified, or the data needed to compare them is available.
03

Commercial and import parties

DDP does not erase the need to identify responsible parties.

3.1Seller, buyer and consignee are identified.
3.2The lawful importer path for the destination country is identified.
3.3Customs broker, representative or required local party is identified or flagged for review.
04

Customs and documents

Classification and regulatory treatment must be reviewed before a binding scope.

4.1HTS or NCM classification has a product-based basis, not a guess from the product name.
4.2USA ISF/bond or Brazil Siscomex/DI–Duimp filing responsibilities are assigned.
4.3Required licences, certificates, testing or product approvals are known or flagged.
05

Written quote scope

Compare the commercial boundary, not only the headline number.

5.1Included origin, ocean, customs and delivery services are requested line by line.
5.2Duty, tax, declared value and currency assumptions are stated.
5.3Exclusions, exception costs, free time and quote validity are requested in writing.
